About Beryl
My journey with weaving began in the 1980s, and after a 30-year career in public health and epidemiology, I felt the pull of fiber and colors once again. As I found my way back to the loom, I found pleasure in the tactile and visual nature of weaving. I love the interplay of color, texture, and movement, and weaving offers the perfect medium to express these elements both individually and collectively.

Weaving provides a rhythm that allows me to slow down and appreciate each step of the process. From planning and calculating to warping and weaving, I enjoy every detail. My affinity for math finds a place in the technical aspects of weaving, as does my appreciation for the focus and patience it requires.

My background in public health has influenced my approach to fiber art. In public health, we work together to improve the well-being of communities, and in weaving, individual fibers unite to create beauty, convey ideas, and evoke emotions.

The weaving and art communities continuously inspire and support me. I am an active participant in weaving workshops, a member of the Jockey Hollow Weavers Guild, and contribute to local art initiatives through the Metuchen Downtown Alliance Public Art Team. My work has been exhibited at local events and galleries, and each new piece is a reflection of my love for fiber, community, and the joy of making.
